The Windows XP Simulator.
Written with Scratch 3.0 in 2021.
Hello and welcome back to 2001! That game will take you back to this year. If you remember Windows 95, you probably also remember Windows XP!
This is probably one of the closest things to Windows XP on Scratch (@A-Guy also made a cool Windows XP simulator, you can check it out if you want, it’s also really close to the real thing, even though it has a “virus” :D)
This game is a simulator of the OS Microsoft Windows XP, released in 2001. You can do these things:
Shut down your virtual computer
This project will be updated over time!
Double click on the Recycle Bin to open it (not single click, DOUBLE CLICK LIKE IN REAL WINDOWS!)
View the Scratch 3.0 site in Chrome
Open Outlook Express
View the Scratch site from 2006 in Internet Explorer
Listen to music in Windows Media Player
Open the run dialog and see information about the OS
Paint with your virtual computer through the use of Microsoft Paint! You can press the down arrow key to clear the canvas, or change the brush color!
Write on your Scratch PC using WordPad!
Run Windows Defender and scan the computer!
Play a recreation of the classic Space Cadet 3D pinball!!! (yes, really)
Change your wallpaper!
Change your taskbar color!
Change the theme by installing the Themes app from SuperWare, a site that you can access using Google Chrome!

(NOTE: I won’t accept things like “cRaZy ErRoR” or “vIrUs” because this is not intended to make fun of Windows XP. This project is intended to replicate Windows XP as close as possible, I only add features that make sense (such as new programs or options in the Control Panel (but I won’t accept options in it such as “dElEtE sYsTeM32”, because something like that is also intended to make fun of Windows!))
Changelog
Version 1.0.0 – September 15, 2021
First release
Version 1.0.1 – September 16, 2021
Fixed a really, really small but annoying gap between the Start menu and the “Run” option.
Version 1.0.2 – September 27, 2021
Added MS Paint and WordPad (suggested by @poppeek123, credit to @Vortex101 for the code). You can access them from this location:
Start > All Programs.
Version 1.0.3 – September 28, 2021
Added a new option to the Control Panel: the option to change the taskbar color! You can access it from the Start Menu > Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu. Also suggested by @poppeek123, he helps me a lot in growing this simulator! But this time I coded the thing myself without using someone else’s code.
Version 1.0.4 – October 3, 2021
Added Windows Defender. Suggested by… guess who! @poppeek123! 😀
Version 1.0.5 – October 4, 2021
Added Pinball and a working clock on the taskbar. Suggested by @poppeek123 (again). 😀
Version 1.0.6 – October 7, 2021
Fixed the sidebar in Pinball, and added Scratch 1.4. Suggested by (you probably know who)… as always, @poppeek123 😀
Version 1.0.7 – January 1, 2023
No update for more than 1 entire year. Finally, a new update after all this time! This one was suggested by JohnUCP123, who said “I really want to see you make google workable and add some sites”. So I did, and made a new site called SuperWare, which allows you to download software for your virtual Windows XP PC. I had an idea for a themes app, so I made it. The current themes are Luna and Windows 98.
Version 1.0.7.1 – January 4, 2023
Fixed a bug: while Themes is installed and you shut down Windows, now the icon disappears instead of still being there.

and you, Scratchers, for playing this!
Be sure to leave a heart and a star if you liked it!
Enjoy 😀
